- For the subsequent 300 years, most of England spoke French.
Tourist attractions:
People can visit the "D-Day" (June 6th 1994) bombing site on the Normandy beach. In the town of Bayeux, with the cathederal of Notre-Dame, many statues and memorials.
There is also a Caen war memorial. A wall with the names of many French people who lost their lives during World War 2, and Norman conflicts. It is evident that Normandy is a place which is very respectful towards its history and people who fight for their country.
Giverny is a picturesque village, was home to a famous painter Claude Monet. People can visit his house. Stereotypical, idyllic view of France.
